Prepped at Menlo School in Menlo Park, Calif., where he lettered three times in football and basketball and four times in baseball ... selected to the USA Baseball National Fall Trials in November, 1994 ... was league MVP as a junior and senior and first team all-state as a senior ... recruited by Stanford, USC and North Carolina ... drafted by the Texas Rangers in 1994 (21st round).
