Drafted in the 24th round by the Colorado Rockies in 2002 ... played summer ball in the Northwoods League with the Waterloo Bucks in 2002 coached by Darrell Handelsman ... in 11 games, he went 4-1 with a 3.52 ERA and 30 strikeouts, while throwing one shutout ... prepped at Timberline High School ... selected first team all-district and first team all-state ... went 8-2 with a 2.08 ERA as a senior at THS where he was coached by Larry Price.

2004 | Junior Year

Transferred at the beginning of winter semester from Oklahoma State ... used primarily as a reliever and led the team along with Paul Jacinto in appearances with 21 ... collected two wins in the same week at the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic hosted by Fresno State, beating Dallas Baptist and Portland ... third win came at home against San Diego State ... lone start came against Air Force where he struck out a season high eight in 5 2/3 innings of a game BYU evenutally won 10-9.

2005 | Senior Year

After successfully rehabbing from arm surgery last fall, made his debut as game two's starting pitcher against New Mexico ... was the winning pitcher in a 13-12 victory over San Diego State ... when he faced SDSU in San Diego a month later, he posted a complete-game 4-3 victory ... he started again against SDSU in BYU's opening game of the MWC Tournament and secured the victory with a four-hitter in 6.2 innings in another 4-3 game ... drafted in the 28th round by the Seattle Mariners.
