Before BYU

Prepped at Plano East Senior High where he was defensive player of the year, all-district, team captain, and all-tournament in the Sherman and McKinney Tournaments ... sang in concert choir ... coached by Rusty Franklin ... recruited by Southern Utah and Mesa State.

Other College

At Utah Valley State College he was coached by Steve Gardner and selected as the Most Inspirational Athlete in 1997 and received the Wilson Sorenson Spirit of Sport Award in 1998 ... had 105 putouts in 1998, including seven in one game ... batted .307 and was 10 of 11 in stolen bases in 1998 ... served as chairman of the Athletes Coming Together Committee.
