2002 | Sophomore Year

Selected to the All-Mountain West Tournament Team ... made several outstanding defensive plays for BYU in that tournament, including a diving stab in the hole, a great play behind second base and backhanding a ball in the grass, deep in the hole to his right in the championship game against San Diego State ... had a 16-game hitting streak which ended at the end of the season ... hit the game-winning RBI in the ninth-inning of the final game at Hawai`i which was televised on the Islands in a 4-3 victory ... hit two doubles in the final game at San Diego State ... homered and tripled in the first game against Southern Utah in Provo ... hit a pair of doubles and turned a pair of double plays, including a one-out play with two on against Maine in the NCAA tournament.

2003 | Junior Year

All-Mountain West Conference Second Team ... elected a tri-captain ... led the team with 27 multiple hit games ... set a junior's record for MWC games with a .415 league batting average ... was among the NCAA leaders in two categories, a batting average of .405 which hovered over .400 for the latter part of the season and for his 25 doubles ... led the team with 89 hits ... smashed a lead-off homer in the eighth inning of BYU's 9-5 victory over San Diego State in Provo, accounting for BYU's first and last RBI of that game ... turned all three of the double plays in the 5-4 victory over SDSU in Provo, including a three-up, three-down inning in the second, one with two on in the sixth and starting out the seventh with a double play ... Wiens' lead-off out over SDSU's Curt Mendoza in the fourth was a spectacular dive with a rollover throw-out from deep in the hole ... may have helped the team out most in the SDSU series with his push bunt to lead-off the sixth when he was homered in by Kainoa Obrey on the next at-bat which tied the game at four-all ... his two-run homer in the eighth inning of game one against Air Force in Provo was a towering one to left field, a rarity nowdays at Miller Park ... in the first inning of game three against AFA in Provo he had a pair of doubles--there is no NCAA record for this category ... had to get 15 stitches in his knee after sliding into second base at Utah, causing him to miss starting a game at San Diego State ... had a 10-game hitting streak late in the season.

Third team Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball magazine ... CollegeBaseballInsider.com Preseason All-American Honorable Mention ... elected team co-captain with Adam Wilkes ... moved from shortstop to third after beginning the season as a designated hitter due to arm surgery ... threw out three runners at home from third in one game against UNLV on March 19 ... after only playing once in the outfield at the University of Nevada, he came off the bench to enter left field and dove to make the first out of a 10th inning victory against Utah ... went 4-for-5 against San Diego State on May 12 with three RBI ... went 3-for-4 against Air Force on May 21 with three runs scored ... shared the team stolen base lead of 16 with Wade Vest ... tied with Jeff Hiestand for the team lead in walks with 30 ... second on the team with three triples ... hit .247 with three home runs and 23 RBI.
