Born in Phoenix, Ariz., ... parents are Derrick and Melinda ... played for the Arizona Pilots for four years and was coached by Jeff Fallon ... was instrumental with helping the 2004 Arizona Pilots Junior Olympic Team to national recognition and numerous tournament championships, highlighted by a perfect game at the USABF Classic in San Diego (June 30, 2004) along with numerous no-hitters ... the 2006 Arizona Firebirds won the Connie Mack World Series ... majoring in business.

Before BYU

Lettered twice in baseball at Sandra Day O'Connor High where he was team captain ... First Team All Region, Best Pitcher, all-tourney four times and MVP twice ... was cut from the baseball team in junior high school and bounced back in high school to become the ace pitcher ... set school pitching records and batted .375.

Other College

Played in 2007 at Chandler-Gilbert Community College which was ranked fifth nationally ... had a 3-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in 16 appearances and four starts, two complete games and 42.0 innings ... recruited by the University of Portland and Siena College (New York).

Got a save against the University of Washington ... longest outing was five innings against the Air Force Academy, which was one of his four starts ... also started against Gonzaga, Portland and Oral Roberts.

Got his first victory at BYU in a MWC tournament eliminating loss over UNLV.
