Graduated from Clovis West High...earned three letters in football and baseball and two in basketball...football team won CIF Central Section in 1992 and 1993, going undefeated both years...team ranked third in California state rankings, eighth in USA Today national poll...first team all-conference quarterback, first team All-CIF quarterback and California State All-Underclass team as a multipurpose player (QB/DB) in 1992...named 1993 conference Co-Player of the Year, CIF Central Section Player of the Year, California all-state first team as a multipurpose player (QB/DB), Blue Chip Illustrated Magazine All-American and All-Northern California first team quarterback...coached by Randy Blankenship.



1995 | Freshman Year

Started the last six games of the season for an injured Dennis Simmons...had a sack vs. Hawai`i...nine tackles including six unassisted tackles vs. Utah.

1996 | Sophomore Year

Set team record and led the WAC with seven fumble recoveries...second team All-WAC by coaches...started all 15 games...recorded 77 tackles and six sacks...had a fumble recovery, six tackles, and a tackle for a loss vs. Arkansas St. to be selected coaches' LB of the game...suffered a broken thumb vs. Washington...10 tackles and 1.5 sacks vs. New Mexico...had six tackles and a sack vs. SMU to be selected coaches' LB of game...had a pass interception on opening play at Utah St. where he also had five tackles and a sack...had two fumble recoveries vs UNLV...10-yard fumble return at Tulsa...recovered a fumble and had a sack at TCU...was coaches' LB of the game vs. UTEP when he had 13 tackles...had six tackles vs. Rice...recovered two fumbles at Hawai`i, including one for a 12-yard return and was chosen coaches' LB of the game...had six tackles and a pass deflection vs. Utah...selected as the team's outstanding linebacker by the coaching staff.

1998 | Senior Year

Named to the All-WAC Second Team...chosen as WAC Defensive Player of the Week November 21 (vs. Utah)...was picked by his coaches as outstanding linebacker for games vs. UNLV, at Hawaii and vs. New Mexico...finished the year third on the team with 76 tackles...sacked UNLV quarterback Chad Reed twice for a loss of 12 yards in the October 10 games vs. the Rebels...intercepted a pass by QB Rocky Perez in the fourth quarter of the UTEP game to seal a victory over the Miners...had a season-high 10 tackles in a win over Utah.
