Born in Provo, Utah...parents are Lane and Connie...Married to Sarah...son Jacob and daughter Grace...recruited by Montana State, Wyoming, Purdue, Utah State, Navy and Nebraska.

Before BYU

Lettered four times in football and basketball and twice in track at Greybull High...four-time all-conference selection...all-state tight end and linebacker in 1995 and 1996...USA Today Wyoming Player of the Year...Sportslink Player of the Year and conference player of the year in 1996.

1998 | Freshman Year

Made three unassisted tackles in a backup role at defensive end.

1999 | Sophomore Year

Transferred to Snow College.

2000 | Junior Year

Returned to BYU to participate in spring drills...recorded one unassisted tackle in the Blue/White scrimmage... saw action in all 12 games as a junior ... recorded 22 tackles during the regular season ... registered 13 solo and nine assisted tackles ... produced 10 stops for a combined loss of 54 yards, including five sacks for minus-47 yards ... totaled three pass breakups, two hurries and one forced fumble ... recorded a season-high four unassisted tackles against Florida State, including two for a loss of 28 yards ... all three tackles against Utah State were for negative yardage.

2001 | Senior Year

Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round...started 13-of-13 regular-season games for the Cougars and started at left end during the Liberty Bowl against No. 22 Louisville...played in Senior Bowl 2002...Honorable Mention All-MWC...Honorable Mention Media All-MWC...coaches awards against Utah State and Mississippi State...totaled 41 tackles on the season, including 23 unassisted...season-high eight tackles (against Utah State)...credited with nine tackles for a combined loss of 32 yards lost for opposing teams...made two sacks for a loss of 18 yards (against Utah State), with a total of four sacks for the year...recorded three deflected passes...had four hurries and one forced fumble.
