Before BYU

All-state defensive end at Provo High ... participated in football, basketball, baseball and track ... played only four football games his senior year because of a knee operation ... coached by Gary Roylance.



1982 | Sophomore Year

Saw a lot of varsity action as a backup ... had his shoulder operated on following the Holiday Bowl vs. Ohio State.

1983 | Junior Year

Second Team All-WAC ... started at guard.

1984 | Senior Year

First Team All-Western Athletic Conference ... honorable mention All-America, Associated Press ... voted team co-captain ... once over-audibled Robbie Bosco to check out of the call as the young Cougar quarterback was barking signals in a game ... selected by the coaches as the lineman of the game against New Mexico when he graded out at 91 percent efficiency ... also had 91 percent efficiency against UTEP ... was the fastest offensive lineman at 4.75 in the 40 and the strongest player on the squad with a 450-pound bench.
