Born 12/21/73 in Blackfoot, Idaho...parents are Marvin and Nola...served an LDS Church mission to Riverside, Calif.,...married Brandi Bird in December, 1997...recruited by Idaho St., Boise State, Arizona St., Nebraska and Utah...majoring in environmental science.

Before BYU

Lettered in football, basketball and track at Blackfoot High...earned all-state honors in basketball in 1991 and all-state in football in 1992...played in the Down Under Bowl in Australia...coached by Noel Johnson (BYU).



1995 | Freshman Year

Started against Hawai`i and caused a fumble...played most of the Wyoming game for an injured Ed Kehl...selected as coaches' defensive lineman of the game against Hawai`i.

1996 | Sophomore Year

Nominated to the Successful Farming All-America team...recovered Texas A&M fumble at end of game in the Pigskin Classic...sat out UNM game because of a midweek concussion...had three sacks to be named coaches' lineman of the game vs. UNLV.

1997 | Junior Year

Had six tackles, 2.5 tackles for losses, and a hurry at SMU...chosen the coaches' defensive lineman of the game against SMU, UTEP, and New Mexico...had six tackles and two QB hurries vs. Utah St.,...had six tackles and a tackle for a loss at UTEP...had five tackles and two tackles for losses at New Mexico.

1998 | Senior Year

Nominated to the Successful Farming All-America Team...named to the All-WAC First Team...tied for team lead with six sacks...started all 14 games for the Cougars at defensive tackle...was chosen as coaches' outstanding defensive lineman for games vs. Arizona State, at Hawai'i, vs. San Diego State and at UTEP...had 2 pass deflections and 9 QB hurries on the season...his fumble recovery in the second quarter vs. Arizona State set up a 33-yard BYU field goal with two seconds remaining in the half to give the Cougars a 16-0 lead...drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the NFL Draft with the 188th overall pick.
