All-county and all-state as a linebacker at Clearfield High...lettered in football, track and wrestling...team won region championship three years...coached by John Flint (Utah State).

Started at linebacker for the junior varsity...voted the outstanding JV player by the coaches.

Second-team All-WAC...Wilson Diamond player of the game vs. Utah and co-player of the game vs. Hawai'i...linebacker of the week vs. Utah State, Washington, Wyoming, UTEP, Hawai'i, Oregon State and Utah...broke thumb against UTEP...had two interceptions.
