Born in Albuquerque...parents are Greg and an Eagle Scout...served an LDS Church mission to Venezuela... recruited by New Mexico, New Mexico St., Fresno St.,...majoring in exercise physiology.

Before BYU

First four-sport letterman in school history (football, baseball, basketball, track) at Mayfield High...all-district in football as a running back, kicker, and punter as a junior...all-state punter and honorable-mention all-state running back as a senior...all-state in baseball as a senior...selected to the North/South all-star game in both football and baseball...New Mexico Pepsi Athlete of the Month in June, 1993...member of National Honor Society...holds three high school records: most touchdowns in a game (five), most rushing and receiving yards in one game (368) and best punting average (43.7)...North/South all-star in New Mexico.

1994 | Redshirt Year

Redshirted in baseball.

1997 | Freshman Year

Walked on to BYU's team...had one punt during the TCU game...was the main holder on the varsity.

1999 | Sophomore Year

Handled all punting duties for the Cougars on the season...named coaches' special teams player of the game for performances against UNLV and San Diego State...finished the season ranked 12th in the nation in net punting (43.67 yds)...booted a season high 65-yarder against Utah...recorded two tackles on punt return coverage in Colorado State.
