Lettered twice in football and track, three years in basketball and one year in baseball...all-state quarterback, was also all-region while playing for Granite High...coached by Wayne Startin (BYU).

1979 | Redshirt Year
Redshirted.
1980 | Sophomore Year
Saw some varsity action and special teams action...was coaches player of the game vs. North Texas State.
1981 | Junior Year
Moved into starting role because of injuries to starters...intercepted a pass vs. Colorado State...best outing was vs. UNLV when he had a sack, three pass deflections and nine tackles...selected three times as coaches player of the game.
