Before BYU

High School Coach Ken Schmidt (Utah) called him up before two-a-days started to give him his start in football...played fullback at Skyline High...was a Utah Basketball all-star and all-star in football...also lettered in track.

1977 | Freshman Year

A walk-on who earned a scholarship...was second string on varsity...scored a TD on a two-yard pass against New Mexico.

1978 | Redshirt Year

Redshirted and added weight and strength.

1979 | Junior Year

Best blocking tight end...a backup on varsity...had a 24-yard reception against Weber State...was three for 52 yards against New Mexico.
