Before BYU

High School - A total of ten letters at Duranga High and at Hartford High in Wisconsin (three each in football, and track, one in tennis) ... was all-state and All-American ... made all-conference as a middle linebacker and tailback ... team's MVP ... coached by Ken Biegel (Wisconsin) ... Rod was on student counsil, was class president and made honor roll ... averaged 7.5 yards per cary as running back ... scored five TDs in one game ... Colorado MVP of the week.

1976 | Sophomore Year

Top defensive statistics leader ... had 147 points ... 87 assisted tackles ... twiceWAC defensive player of the week ... had school defensive point record for one week at 42 ... leremia holdfs it at 45.

1977 | Junior Year

Second with 201 defensive points ... led teh team with 81 assisted tackles, despite an injured ankle ... honorable mention All-WAC ... against New Mexico he had 11 tackles, two for losses ... had 12 tackles against Oregon State ... had 10 tackles and two hurries against Arizona .... named JoLene defensive player against Utah for five tackles, a fumble cause and a pass deflection ... had 18 tackles against Arizona State.
