Parents are Ivan and Ester ... brother Steve played for UCLA in 1970 ... recruited by Harvard, Oregon and Washington State ... majoring in zoology/pre-med.

Before BYU

Won three letters in three sports at Crescenta Vally High ...coached by Dennis Gossard and Gordon Warnock (San Jose St.) ... holds two school records: Longest pass reception (82 yards) and longest kickoff return (93 yards) All-CIF first team.


Drafted in the fourth round by the San Francisco 49ers in 1993.

1979 | Freshman Year

Back on the varsity and was special teams player of the game against Wyoming.

1980 | Sophomore Year

Led the WAC with seven interceptions and was selected All-Academic in the WAC and District Eight ... selected five times as coaches' player of the game with the best performances coming against Utah and Long Beach State.

1981 | Junior Year

Selected by the coaches as the most valuable defensive back ... had three interceptions, the longest of which was a 49-yard return vs. UNLV ... scored two TD's, the first coming from a blocked punt at Long Beach Stae ... intercepted a pass and ran 35 yards for a TD in the Holiday Bowl against Washington State ... was the holder for PAT and field goals.

1982 | Senior Year

Played in the Hula Bowl ... All-Western Athletic Conference first team ... honorable mention All-America by Associated Press ... had three interceptions and scored one TD off a 63-yard interception at Georgia to tie the score, 7-7.
