• Former state record holder in the 200 free

• Returned to BYU in the 1994-95 season after serving an LDS Church mission to Guam
• As a freshman, he placed second in the WAC in both the 200 free and the 500 free
• Also placed fourth in the 1650 meters and was a member of the first-place 800 free relay team
• Placed third in the 800 free, seventh in the 500 free, ninth in the 200 free and 11th in the 1650 free in the WAC Championships in 1995
