Before BYU

  • Prepped at Midlothian High School
  • Placed 16th at the Footlocker Nationals (4th in the Footlocker South Region)
  • Was the Virginia State Cross Country champion as a senior and was Virginia Gatorade cross country runner of the year
  • Won the indoor 3,200m as a junior and won the outdoor 3,200m as a senior - both at the state meet
  • His team won state cross country as a junior and placed 14th the Nike Team Nationals and seventh individually

  • Took first place and broke the 5,000-meter meet record with a 13:42.08 at the University of Washington Indoor Invitational

  • Took sixth at the MPSF Indoor Championships in the 3,000m
  • Ran the second-fastest 5,000 meters (13:42.08) and tenth-fastest 3,000m(7:53.41) in shool indoor history


  • Third place in the Mt. SAC Relays 5,000mwith a personal record of 13:34.96
  • Ran the season's fastest-to-date collegiate 10,000m (27:54.25) at the Payton Jordan Invitational, and became one of only eight American collegiates to break 28 minutes
  • Ran the fifth-fastest 5,000m (13:34.96) in school history, which was also good for seventh in the nation during the regular season
  • Qualified for the NCAA final in the 10,000m by taking sixth place at the NCAA West Preliminaries
