Won pole vault title at Caly Poly Invitational with a jump of 16'10.75" (5.15m) ... took first at UTEP Springtime Invitational by clearing a height of 17'00.75"/5.20m in the pole vault ... broke the BYU record he already owned by vaulting 18'00.50" (5.50m) to win the vaulting title at MWC Championships ... set a new BYU record for the second straight meet by clearing a height of 18'2.50"/5.55m, earning his third All-America citation with a second-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.


 


Before BYU


Two-time state champion in the long jump and the triple jump ... state champion in pole vault ... two-time track team MVP and captain ... attended the University of Arizona one semester before transferring to BYU winter 1996.
