Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico...parents are Edwin Olmeda and Magali Lizardi of Toa Baja, Puerto of three boys...majoring in business...coached young children in Puerto Rico...started playing volleyball in the street and joined league when he was 12.


2001: Redshirted.

Before BYU

Earned math star honors for four consecutive years at Colegio Marista High School...Earned Most Valuable Player honors in 1998...a two-time tournament MVP and three-year All-Star selection...Twice earned MVP honors in 199 and was selected to three different all-star teams...named all-tournament in both 1998 and 1999...hit .373 as a senior...also lettered in basketball (1999-'00)...played for Borinquen Coqui at the club level for head coach Allan Obrador.
