• Was on the honor role for two years at McMinn High School
• While there, received the Freshman Award and the Best Distance Award
• Received IHSAA Academic All-Star honors for 2003 at Harrison HS in Indiana
• Pole vaulted senior year of high school
• Took eighth in the 3200m at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference in 2003
• Received the Senior of the Year Award, Most Improved Award and Gatorade Senior Award
