Major: Finance—Garrett and I have had the same classes since freshman year
Stadiums excited to play in: Lavell Edwards, Nebraska, Michigan, Rose Bowl, Utah State
One thing people don’t know about you: I am a black belt in tai-kwon-do. I haven’t had to use it but if the opportunity presents itself I am trained. It’s a family tradition. All the kids in the family have a black belt. My mom’s strategy is to teach us discipline.
Other sports you enjoy: Baseball, golf, basketball, ran track
Favorite pro athlete: Wes Welker, Julian Edelman
Favorite football team: Houston Texans
Favorite movie: Fan of chick flicks—How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Favorite actor: Owen Wilson in Shanghai Noon
Walkup song in baseball: In high school it was Heartless by Kanye West, but anything that gets me pumped
Favorite food: Tacos but they have to be like the ones you can find in Mexico
Three things you did in the offseason: Golf, nap, started new TV shows
Who do you look up to: My family, all of my brothers and sister and parents, the guys on the team. I really look up to them and how hard they work. They’re really good guys.
Nicknames from the team: Jergs—Spencer Linton and Jarom Jordan gave me the nickname Mitchell "Money" Juergens, now my dad calls me that too, so maybe Money will catch on too.
Pregame ritual: I sleep a lot to pass the time before a game. Listen to music, stretch a lot, and drink a lot of water.
Favorite football memory: Scoring first touchdown against Virginia last year, key moment in the game that put us ahead, walking into the end zone and hearing the roar of the crowd. It was awesome. I should have planned my celebration. Crossed the end zone and emotions came over me and I started doing high knees—I get made fun of for that celebration dance against Virginia, but I loved it. I’m going to retire that; it was a one-time thing. It’s going to be more calm and collective because I’ve been there before.
Junior Defensive Back
Stadiums excited to play in: Big House Michigan, Rose Bowl, Arrowhead Stadium
One thing people don’t know about you: I was born with a congenital foot problem. My right ankle has no mobility laterally, I can only move it up and down.
Other sports you enjoy: Baseball and golf in high school—Chose football so I could play in LaVell Edwards Stadium
Favorite pro athlete: Brett Favre—nothing stops him from playing
Favorite movie: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days—me and my wife’s favorite movie
Favorite actor: Matthew McConaughey—Fool’s Gold, Interstellar
Walkup song in baseball: Country music by Jason Aldean
Favorite food: Steak or pizza
Three things you did in the offseason: Went to the lake, napped and played softball. I played on an intramural softball team last spring and won the championship.
Who do you look up to: Dad—He has sacrificed everything for his kids. Everything he has done to get me where I am shows his love and I plan to do that for my kids.
Nicknames from the team: People call us Jergs because they can’t tell us apart. My defense brothers call me G because they know which one I am on the field.
Pregame ritual: I stretch a lot. I get nervous before every game and stretching calms me down. I don’t listen to music. It’s too distracting and I like to be aware of my surroundings.
Favorite football memory: First time playing in a college game—my first action was last year. I got to run down on kickoff in the Nevada game. I didn’t start playing until halfway through the season last year and stepping on the field and running out on kick off was an experience I’ll never forget.
