Senior defensive back
What is something that people don’t know about you?
That I am half-Mexican, half-black.
What is your favorite football memory?
First one that comes to mind would be against Nebraska with the miracle throw when we won the game.
When you are not playing football what do you like to be going?
Just hanging out with friends, sleeping, watching Netflix, going to the movies, bowling.
What was the highlight of your summer?
Here, working out! Getting swol!
What has been your favorite thing about BYU and being here?
Just the people and the atmosphere and how they interact with you. They are always nice and they say hi to you even if they don’t know you.
What is your nickname on the team?
Right now, Mike the monk. (Gestures to shaved head)
If you could go to the Olympics for a sport, what would it be?
Track. I actually ran in high school.
Junior wide receiver
What is something people may not know about you?
When I was younger, I was pretty good at sound effects. Like trumpet noises, I could imitate what I heard. I used to, but I can’t anymore. I lost it. That was a little hidden talent of mine.
Most embarrassing song on iPod
Justin Bieber’s newer stuff. I have “Sorry” on my phone.
Favorite football memory
When I was playing little league, I played for American Fork. We were playing Juan Diego and they were undefeated for like four years. And we beat them. They threw a long ball to me and scored and we won. I scored the winning touchdown. I was about 12 years old. It was a good memory.
I used to put dollar bills in my socks. IN the sock. I don’t do it anymore. I had money in my sock in my first practice here at fall camp and I did pretty well, so I might bring it back.
How did you spend your summer?
School. Took an MCOM writing class- not very fun. I also took a religion class and a study skills class. Just school and seeing family. It was fun.
Hobbies besides football
Hanging with family, sleeping - I love to sleep. I like to eat too.
Salmon. I prefer to eat it out instead of cooking it myself. Favorite place to get salmon at is Ivar’s in Seattle. I get their seafood every time I go to Seattle.
Dream job besides NFL
I think it’d be cool to be a pediatrician. I like little kids, working with them and taking care of them. I think that’d be pretty cool for me.
Thoughts on the new coaching staff
I love them. All very cool guys. They feel like ‘one of the guys’ when we’re hanging with them. It’s not super serious. We’re serious when we need to be, but when it’s time to have fun and play around, they do that for us.
