The BYU men’s basketball team (2-2) returns home this week and will host UT-San Antonio tonight at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. The Cougars are looking to bounce back after suffering back-to-back losses at the Acura Coaches vs. Cancer Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y.
BYU is coming off an 88-70 loss to Florida State and a 78-68 loss to Notre Dame, both on the road. The games are the first consecutive regular season losses since the 2008-09 season (Jan. 17 at New Mexico, Jan. 21 vs. UNLV). The Cougars have never lost three-straight with Rose at the helm.
In BYU’s most recent contest against the Fighting Irish, Tyler Haws led all scorers with 21 points for his fourth-straight 20+ performance. Also in double figures were Brandon Davies and Brock Zylstra with 12 and 10, respectively.
The Roadrunners come to Provo with a 3-1 season record, on a 3-game winning streak. Their most recent win came over USC Upstate in a 67-59 final with Kannon Burrage leading UT-San Antonio on 19 points.
UTSA finished last season with a 18-14 record after ending the year with a 78-74 loss to McNeese State in the Southland Conference Tournament. The Roadrunners return two starters from last year’s squad in seniors Michael Hale III and Burrage.
