BYU beat Saint Mary’s 84-71 behind 33 points and seven rebounds from Tyler Haws. Kyle Collinsworth contributed 20 points to tie his career high to go along with nine boards and two assists.
BYU trailed 38-37 at the half. Following the break, both sides traded points consistently until five-straight points from Haws gave the Cougars a 48-44 advantage.
Fueled by nine points from Haws on a 13-3 run, BYU took a nine-point lead at 56-47 heading into the under-12 minute timeout.
The Cougars maintained a double-digit advantage from the 10:26 mark to the end of the game.
A pair of Collinsworth free throws with 8:28 gave him 20 points to tie his career high in points and free throws made.
