Live from the KSL 5 TV studios, BYU head coach Dave Rose started his weekly show with a recap of last week's games. BYU fell 74-68 to San Diego on the road and lost at home to San Francisco 99-87.
"I really believe our guys gave a great effort last week - we got stung by teams who were ready for us. We had beaten both of them the first time around but they were ready. I thought we were prepared for both games and had a good game plan, but we just didn't execute."
Against San Diego, coach Rose highlighted the play of Tyler Haws who finished with 27 points to lead all players and Brandon Davies who recorded his fourth-straight double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds.
At home against the Dons, coach Rose said he was proud of how much help the bench offered, especially early. Brock Zylstra's performance was also highlighted against San Francisco, finishing with a season-high 18 points.
"Weeks like this are how you realize where you're at with your team. We'll see how we pull together and get back in it."
Later in the show, coach Rose talked about BYU's strategy for breaking a press defense. Rose said because his team likes to be quick on offense, a lot of teams try to use a backcourt press to slow them down but it ends up a lot of times allowing more fast break points.
Coach Rose finished the show talking about what's coming up next for BYU and hwo the other West Coast Conference teams are doing.
