BYU head coach Dave Rose and player Cory Calvert were live at Legends Grille Tuesday night on the weekly KSL Radio Coach's Show.

Rose began the show previewing the upcoming week with two instate rivals and offering his sympathy for Utah State's Danny Berger who collapsed at practice on Tuesday afternoon.

"It's really sad when you hear about something like this happening to someone so young. I can't imagine. I feel for the staff, the players and Danny's family. All we can do now is just wait to see what happens and hope for the best.

"It seems sort of trivial to be talking about playing a game under the circumstances but this is a growing time for our team and a time for us to get better. We're still looking to make progress this season. Our guys have a lot of will to prove and practice the last few days have shown that. They've worked hard."

A continuing series with Utah and Utah State was talked about and also the challenges BYU has faced playing on the road this season.

"We need to become more diverse as a team so we can attack the issues we're having and become more consistent. I thought, of those tough road games we've had, we actually competed well against Notre Dame and had a good chance to win, but those other two just got away from us."

When freshman Calvert joined the show, Rose talked about the first time he met Calvert play and how he came to play at BYU.

"It was such a great honor to get invited to play here," Calvert said. "When I got the offer I accepted right away."

The show finished up with a short Q&A session from fan questions with Rose.
