BYU coach Dave Rose met with the media after today's practice to discuss Saturday's game against Utah State. The Cougars and Aggies play at 7 p.m. MST at EnergySolutions Arena. They game will be televised live on BYUtv and broadcast on the Cougar IMG Sports Network on KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM/1160 AM. Visit the game day page on BYUcougars.com for more information.

“We had a great game up there a few years ago with Utah State at EnergySolutions Arena. With the experience of their team, starting four seniors, and the youth of our group and where we’ve been and the fact that we’re coming off a loss, it should be a really exciting game. We’re looking forward to it.”

On playing a familiar in-state opponent:
“Most of the players know each other and the staffs know each other. We’ve recruited some of their players and they’ve recruited some of our players and they end up where they end up. Then you get to play each other once a year.”

On the last decade of games between BYU and Utah State:
“They’ve been really competitive games. They usually go right down to the wire. Last year it was a last possession shot off a rebound that won the game for us. I know our guys are really looking forward to it and hopefully there’s a great crowd in there and there’s good energy.”

“When you look at the programs over the last eight to 10 years there have been good teams and good teams are hard to beat. Stew has one of his really special teams this year with with the combination of their experience and the depth at each position. I think it’s going to be a real battle.

“I believe Utah State is going to have a great season based on watching film and where they’ve been and what they’re doing. These guys really know how to close a game. When you play in a program and you understand the expectations and you have won for years and years, you figure out how to close games and that’s what this team does really well.”

“Our guys are excited. There hasn’t been a lot of emotion on our part that we’ve had to put into these guys. They know the importance of these games and they know how difficult it is to beat good teams. This will be a good game.”
