The second half played out much like with the first half with Matt Carlino and Tyler Haws leading the way to an 81-72 victory.
Haws led the Cougars in scoring with 14 in the half and Carlino added 11 points. Haws had the first dunk of the year for BYU with just over five minutes left in the game. Sophomore Kyle Collinsworth contributed five points with four rebounds and three assists, and freshman Eric Mika had five points, two assists and two blocks.
After Weber State closed to within five, BYU went on a 15-1 run to push the lead to 20 at 61-41. Carlino led BYU with five points during the run and Collinsworth added four points of his own. Mika made his presence felt on the defensive end with two blocks during the stretch.
The rest of the half saw a series of small runs by both teams. Weber State closed out the game on an 8-0 run over the final three minutes to bring the lead to single digits.
BYU shot 46.9 percent from the floor while limiting Weber State to 38.2 percent shooting in the second half.
