The BYU men’s basketball team (4-2) will play its first of two games this season in Salt Lake City at Energy Solutions Arena tonight when they take on Montana at 7 p.m. MST.
BYU is coming off back-to-back home victories over UT-San Antonio, 81-62, and Cal State Northridge most recently in an 87-75 finish.
Against the Matadors, Tyler Haws led all players with a career-high 32 points while teammates Brock Zylstra and Brandon Davies contributed 14 and 12 points, respectively. Haws has now scored 20+ points in all six of BYU’s games this season and is leading the team with 23.3 ppg.
The Griz come to Utah with a 3-1 season record, on a three-game winning streak. Their most recent win came in a 67-66 final over San Diego after Montana overcame an 11-point second-half deficit and scored a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to win.
Montana finished the 2011-12 season on a 14-game winning streak for its third-straight 20-win season (a 25-7 overall record). Its final game was a loss in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament to Wisconsin. The Griz returns three starters to this year’s lineup.
