Rose, three Cougars earn All-Conference Honors

BYU head coach Dave Rose was named West Coast Conference Coach of the Year and Tyler Haws was named WCC Player of the Year by CollegeSportsMadness.com on Tuesday. 

Haws was also named to the WCC All-Conference First Team by the website. Junior guard Matt Carlino and sophomore guard Kyle Collinsworth were also named to the All-Conference Third Team. 

Rose has won 20-plus games in each of his nine seasons at BYU including 21 so far this season. This year the Cougars finished in second place for the first time since joining the WCC with a 13-5 conference record.

Haws led the league in scoring, while Carlino and Collinsworth were 14th and 15th in the WCC in overall scoring per game. Collinsworth was third in rebounding and assists, while Carlino was fourth in assists in the WCC. Carlino led the league in overall steals, while Collinsworth led the league in steals in WCC play.

Other players on the first team include LMU's Anthony Ireland, San Diego's Johnny Dee, Saint Mary's Brad Waldow and Gonzaga's Sam Dower.
