The Cougars put the game away in the second half behind sophomore Kyle Collinsworth and junior Nate Austin.
In the second half, Collinsworth led the way with 10 points, four assists and four rebounds, while Austin contributed eight rebounds.
Over the first eight minutes of the half, BYU extended their lead to 57-29 behind a 21-1 run. Matt Carlino scored six points, Collinsworth dished out three assists and Nate Austin gathered in five rebounds and a blocked shot to highlight the run.
The game continued with the Cougars maintaining roughly a 20-point lead. With 5:17 left in the game, the Mavericks cut the lead to 13, forcing coach Dave Rose to call a timeout.
After the timeout, BYU assembled an 8-0 run to push the margin back up to 21 with the score 75-54.
The Cougars shot 17 for 27 from the free-throw line in the second half along with 44 percent shooting from the field.
