With Veterans Day taking place this year on Sunday, Nov. 11, the annual holiday honoring the many military personnel who have served and are serving this country is observed today. Prior to BYU's 52-13 victory over Idaho on Saturday, a 100-yard-long flag was carried onto the field, covering it entirely, by members of the Army and Air Force ROTC for the singing of the National Anthem. Check out the photos below and many thanks to all who have and are serving in the Armed Forces!
Several BYU players were honored Monday for their play against Idaho on Saturday. Junior wide receiver Cody Hoffman and junior kicker Justin Sorensen joined Notre Dame junior linebacker Prince Shembo in receiving Football Bowl Subdivision Independent Player of the Week accolades.
Hoffman was also named the Independent Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness and honorable mention for National Wide Receiver of the Week by College Football Performance Awards.
Hoffman caught nine passes for 108 yards and three touchdowns against Idaho in BYU's 52-13 win. Hoffman’s performance marked his 11th 100-yard receiving game, tied for third all-time at BYU, while giving him 23 career touchdown receptions, which is tied for fourth on BYU’s career ledger. In addition, he extended to 29 his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception.
Sorensen broke a long-standing BYU record by converting all seven of his PAT attempts to extend his personal streak to 68 consecutive PATs made, breaking the previous school mark of 67—a record that had stood since 2004.
