BYU senior linebacker Austen Jorgensen will miss the rest of the year and senior receiver/return specialist JD Falslev will be out 3-4 weeks due to planned surgeries.

A 6-foot-2, 232-pound middle linebacker from Mt. Pleasant, Utah, Jorgensen will have season-ending surgery next week to repair cartilage damage to his knee. He totaled a career-best 47 tackles in BYU's eight games this season, including three starts. For his career, Jorgensen played in 45 games while making 108 tackles, including 55 solo takedowns and one sack.

Falslev had surgery Thursday to repair a fractured hand. The 5-foot-8, 175-pound captain has played in all eight games with three starts this year while totaling 227 receiving yards on 24 catches. BYU's primary punt returner, Falslev also averages 10.4 yards on 23 punt returns, including a 71-yard return for a touchdown against Middle Tennessee.
