During the Football Media Day afternoon breakout session, BYU baseball coach Vance Law shared his excitement as a BYU football fan with Athletic Communications.

“As a BYU football fan, I’m excited because I have a chance to watch them every week on Saturdays, just like our fan base around the country,” Law said. “It will be a great thing to be able to watch that and I wish them the best of luck.”

Just as many others, Law was in awe with the new broadcast building.

“I’ve never been in this building before and it’s pretty impressive,” Law said. “I’m sure it’s one of the driving forces behind all the moves in the athletic department to get more exposure for BYU.”

With the football team’s move to independence, the baseball team will join the West Coast Conference. Law said the new conference provides an opportunity for the team to face tough competition.

“It’s a very strong conference baseball wise top to bottom,” Law said. “There is not a weak team in the conference so it’s going to prove to be a big challenge for us to be able to go in there and win the conference championship, which is our goal.”

The new conference also means new travel plans, allowing many players the chance to make hometown visits.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for many of our California guys on the team to be able to go home and play for family and friends,” Law said. “I think that’s a big deal for them and also the fact that we’re able to have more games televised here in Provo too.”
