Hatch and Hunt named to Preseason Award Shortlist

Junior forward Ashley Hatch and junior defender Paige Hunt were named to the 2015 AllWhiteKit.com College Soccer Award Preseason Award Shortlist. Hunt was named to the Defender of the Year shortlist, while Hatch was named to the Forward of the Year shortlist.

Hunt was an NSCAA All-West Region Second Team selection and started every game at center back for the Cougars before leaving to serve in the Indianapolis, Indiana mission. She scored a goal and made two assists from the backline in 2013.

In a survey of Division I coaches done by TopDrawerSoccer.com’s J.R. Eskilson, Ashley Hatch was one of eight players to be chosen as a breakout star this season. 

Bravo shines as Mexico finishes World Cup of Softball

IRVINE, Calif. – BYU center fielder Gordy Bravo wrapped up action at the World Cup of Softball X as Mexico finished in sixth place with a 6-5 loss to the USA Junior Women’s Team Sunday, trying to avenge a 10-3 setback just a day earlier.

Bravo, the reigning West Coast Conference Player of the Year, finished the tournament with a .385 batting average and a .500 on-base percentage, collecting five hits, scoring three runs, drawing three walks and driving in two runs.

IRVINE, Calif. – BYU center fielder Gordy Bravo helped Mexico pick up its first win in the World Cup of Softball X Wednesday.

Bravo collected her first hit of the tournament as she went 2-for-3 with two singles and an RBI.

Her first single of the game came on a 3-0 pitch, scoring Oregon's Koral Costa for the 3-1 Mexico lead.

PROVO, Utah – BYUtv televised 21 consecutive hours of BYU football programming during the fifth-annual BYU Football National Media Day on June 24. Four hours of live programming was featured on BYUtv during the day as well as three hours of live online chats. BYU coaches and staff participated along with more than a dozen players on the 2015 team and 70 football alumni from the past 40 years.

Game time and television plans for BYU's season opener at Nebraska on Sept. 5 have been determined. The Cougars will kick off their 2015 season in a 2:30 p.m. CT/1:30 p.m. MT nationally featured Saturday afternoon matchup on ABC.

Played at historic Memorial Stadium,  the 85,000-seat Memorial Stadium has been home of the Huskers since 1923. Nebraska currently holds the NCAA record for consecutive sellouts with an amazing 340-straight football games selling out, a streak that dates back to 1962.

2015-16 college football bowl schedule announced

ESPN Events, a subsidiary of ESPN, has determined the date, time and network for each of the company’s 13 owned and operated bowl games for the 2015 season, including possible bowl destinations for the BYU football program.

ESPN and BYU previously announced the Cougars have accepted an invitation to play in either the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl or the Hawai’i Bowl following the 2015 football season if bowl eligible and not selected to participate in the College Football Playoff.
