BUSY JANUARY: Starting with school work, practice and the fourth annual First Pitch Dinner on Jan. 27 featuring Dale Murphy, the Cougars are readying for the 2017 season.

LITTLEWOOD INDUCTION: Congratulations are in order for Coach Mike Littlewood who is one of five persons to be inducted on Jan. 28 into the Dixie State Athletic Hall of Fame.

During the second day of the 2017 BYU Indoor Invitational, the women’s heptathlon wrapped up with sophomore Halley Folsom taking first place (3463) and freshman Lyndsay Yetter came in at a close second (3294 points).

During the second day of the 2017 BYU Indoor Invitational, the women’s heptathlon wrapped up with sophomore Halley Folsom taking first place (3463) and freshman Lyndsay Yetter came in at a close second (3294 points).

At the close of the men’s pentathlon, Kevin Nielsen took first place in the men’s heptathlon with a total of 5525 points and Jackson Walker third place with 4414 points.

At the end of the first day of competition at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational, Kevin Nielson leads all athletes in the men’s heptathlon with 3130 points. The men’s heptathletes competed in the high jump, long jump, shot put and the 60 meters. Nielson placed first in all heptathlon events, with Cougar Jackson Walker taking second place in the shot put, third place in the 60 meters and fourth place in the jumps.

BYU locks in over San Francisco, 85-75

Eric Mika shot for nine points within the first four minutes of the second half, taking BYU to a 47-41 advantage over San Francisco. A steal from Yoeli Childs set TJ Haws up for a jumper five minutes into the half, helping the Cougar's 51-41 lead against the Dons.

Freshman Yoeli Childs started the matchup with two quick back-to-back layups a minute into the first period. With a 3-pointer from Nick Emery, the Cougars took a five-point lead over the San Francisco Dons, 7-2.

Why did you come to BYU?
I came to BYU because I am a new member of the church. I just got baptized last November. I was playing at another college (Grand Canyon) and I needed a better environment, so I came to BYU.
