The BYU University Communications team hosted the third annual BYU Social Media Awards – The Golden Hashtags, an event to recognize departments and affiliated organizations for their savvy online efforts.
BYU Athletics visited Southern California on Tuesday, conducting a FanFest event for Cougar Fans in the Golden Gate state.
Football head coach Bronco Mendenhall and men's basketball head coach Dave Rose took part in the event along with several players on the football and men's basketball teams and members of the BYU administration and cheer squad. Of course, Cosmo was on hand as well.
BYU Athletics began the 2014 fall season with its 10th annual Cougar Kickoff Wednesday evening.
Thousands were in attendance to meet athletes from the football, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and cross country teams. Players signed autographs and played games with fans.
Those who participated also had a chance to meet Cosmo, the Cheer team and the Cougarettes.
BYU's student section, The ROC, is creating a board for the 2014-15 season and is looking for a few energetic and creative students to get involved.
The ROC is an official club on campus with ties to BYUSA and the BYU Athletic Department. Currently led by student employees of BYU Athletic Marketing, the ROC is shifting to volunteer student leaders, giving everyone on campus a chance to have a voice in the affairs of the student section.
BYU won $10,000 for the Hyundai Lens of Loyalty film contest to determine the nation’s most loyal fans.
Hyundai first contacted 25 university film programs to submit a one-page treatment for a film that would offer a glimpse into the traditions and passion of their fan base. From those treatments seven schools were selected and awarded with $10,000 to create the film. BYU won the additional $10,000 over finalists Alabama, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Oregon and Pittsburgh.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, the BYU athletic department joined the rest of the BYU campus in the Utah County United Way Day of Caring by supporting numerous service projects throughout the community. University employees were given four hours off work to support the United Way’s efforts to strengthen the local community.
Cougar fans enjoyed a fun evening on Wednesday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The BYU Athletic Department hosted the Fan Stadium Party on Wednesday just days before the football team's first home game of the season on Saturday against the nationally ranked Texas Longhorns.
BYU football head coach Bronco Mendenhall attended the party and talked to fans along with the "Voice of the Cougars," Greg Wrubell. Many other activities took place during the evening, including locker room tours. The party lasted from 6:30-9 p.m.
PROVO, Utah -- During halftime of the BYU men’s basketball game against Utah State Tuesday, BYU honored its 39 All-Americans from 2012.
Honorees from last year’s winter sports and the recently-ended fall sports were named. Both All-America and Academic All-America awardees were honored.

Congratulations to BYU Cougarette director Jodi Maxfield who was featured on the March 2013 cover of DanceTeacher magazine. Maxfield came to BYU in 1991 and has built one the nations top college dance programs. Under her direction, the Cougarettes have won 10 National College Dance team champions — eight NDA titles and two hip-hop national championships. Maxfield was recognized as one of the Nation's Outstanding Directors in 2003 and 2004.
