BYU faces Oregon –- again

In program history, BYU has faced a team in the postseason after playing them in the regular season seven times come Thursday. Six have been non-conference opponents, while Fresno State was the only conference opponent BYU has faced in either the NIT or NCAA tournament.

Cougars set multiple conference tournament records

In BYU's run to the West Coast Conference championship game, the Cougars set several conference records and several Cougars set BYU conference tournament records.

As a team, the Cougars set the WCC record for team rebounds in a single tournament with 129. BYU topped former record holder Loyola Marymount by one rebound. The Lions grabbed 128 boards in 1989.

Haws named to All-High Major First Team

PROVO, Utah - BYU's junior guard Tyler Haws was named to the CollegeSportsMadness.com All-High Major First Team.

Haws has also received West Coast Conference Player of the Year honors and was named to the USBWA All-District VIII team, WCC All-Tournament Team and the All-WCC Team. Haws averages 23.4 points per game along with 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Haws is currently sixth in the nation in scoring and led the WCC in scoring during the regular season.

“I think we probably have to win the tournament to get in and that’s what our mindset is, so let’s take this first game. The most important thing is to control what you can control and the sure bet is that if we win it, we’re in a nice spot.”

Haws set up for run at WCC history

Junior guard Tyler Haws has already set himself up for a senior year to remember even with a handful of games remaining in his junior campaign.

Haws will have plenty of records to reach for his senior year: the career scoring mark at BYU, free throws made and free throw percentage by a Cougar as well as West Coast Conference records.

Rose, three Cougars earn All-Conference Honors

BYU head coach Dave Rose was named West Coast Conference Coach of the Year and Tyler Haws was named WCC Player of the Year by CollegeSportsMadness.com on Tuesday. 

Haws was also named to the WCC All-Conference First Team by the website. Junior guard Matt Carlino and sophomore guard Kyle Collinsworth were also named to the All-Conference Third Team. 

Cougars in the Pros: Fredette debuts in Chicago

Jimmer Fredette played for three minutes in his debut with the Chicago Bulls and finished with two points and two rebounds against the Knicks on Sunday. 

Fredette signed with the Bulls for the remainder of the season after clearing waivers with the Kings. 

Trent Plaisted went for four points, seven rebounds and a block in an 81-77 win on Saturday against Walter Tigers. Rafael Araujo added four points in a 12-point win, while Charles Abouo contributed three points and three rebounds in a 74-72 victory over Ourense last Friday.

BYU closed out the regular season with a victory at San Diego on Saturday. The Cougars have won four straight games including victories over Gonzaga and Saint Mary's and begin the West Coast Conference tournament on Saturday against the winner of the LMU-Portalnd game at 3 p.m. MST. Highlights from games in February are found below with other video and audio grouped by outlet.

“I think it’s been an interesting series between the two of us. The games have been competitive, and I think the challenge is that they’re a really good defensive team and a great 3-point shooting team. Those are things that have caused us problems and hopefully we’ll be ready for it.”
