After first quarter BYU leads UConn 7-0

On their second drive of the game, a 34-yard pass from Tanner Mangum to Terrenn Houk at the start of the series put the Cougars in scoring position.

BYU then scored the first points of the game on a 1-yard touchdown run from Francis Bernard. The touchdown was Bernard's first of the season.

BYU football is on the road again as it concludes September wtih a matchup against Michigan with kickoff at 8:21 p.m. MDT at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 along with online access through Watch ESPN.

Live television coverage begins at 7 p.m. MDT with BYUtv’s pregame show Countdown to Kickoff. Live postgame coverage on BYUtv will follow after the game.

One thing people don’t know about you: I am a black belt in tai-kwon-do. I haven’t had to use it but if the opportunity presents itself I am trained. It’s a family tradition. All the kids in the family have a black belt. My mom’s strategy is to teach us discipline.

BYU football is on the road again wtih a matchup against No. 10/12 UCLA with kickoff at 7:35 PDT/8:35 MDT at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.

The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1 with online access available through cable and satellite providers via the FoxSportsGo App and FoxSports.com.

Nacua named Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – Junior defensive back Kai Nacua was named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week for week two after recording three interceptions, including a game-sealing pick-six to help lead BYU past No. 20 Boise State, 35-24.

With his three interceptions, Nacua tied the BYU record for most interceptions in a single game. One interception prevented a touchdown for the Broncos and another was the 50-yard pick-six that sealed the Cougar win.

Nacua earns Madness National Defensive Player of the Week

PROVO, Utah– Junior defensive back Kai Nacua was named the National and Independent Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness for his performance in the 35-24 BYU win over Boise State.

Nacua tied the BYU record for most interceptions in a single game with three as he sealed the home-opening win with an interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the victory over the Broncos. His three picks reached the mark set most recently in 2000 by Tyson Smith against Wyoming.
