Media Day begins with State of the Program on BYUtv

On schedule for the first broadcast of the day at BYUtv was BYU football’s State of the Program.

Head football coach Bronco Mendenhall, BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe, ESPN analyst and former BYU football player Trevor Matich and managing director of broadcasting, Derek Marquis joined studio host Dave McCann to assess the upcoming season.

McCann and his guests discussed a number of topics to start off the day including the new college playoff system, ESPN and BYUtv and the outlook for the season.

College Football Performance Awards Watch List - Special Teams

A strong returning special teams class for BYU dots the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) Special Teams Watch Lists released on Monday with four players listed.

Senior punter Riley Stephenson and junior placekicker Justin Sorensen were both named to the CFPA Specialist Trophy watch list. BYU was the only team with two players on the list.

New Zealand's Maori TV features Bronco Mendenhall

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall appeared on the most popular sports show in New Zealand this week when he spent an hour on the famous Code couch at Maori Television in Auckland.

Coach Mendenhall was warmly greeted by the show hosts, including Jenny-May Coffin, a New Zealand netball legend, and celebrity rugby players Glen “Oz” Osborne and Awen Guttenbeil along with current rugby standout Liam Messam.

NFF Announces 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class

The National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame announced Ty Detmer as a member of the 2012 Hall of Fame Class on Monday on ESPN during College Football Live. Today, the thirteen other players and three coaches were announced to complete the 2012 honorees. Here is the NFF's complete release announcing this year's class:

The National Football Foundation (NFF) announced Monday during College Football Live on ESPN that former BYU quarterback Ty Detmer will enter the College Football Hall of Fame.

BYU and Boise State to play Thursday, Sept. 20 on ESPN

BYU’s 2012 football schedule has changed.

The BYU vs. Boise State game in Boise, Idaho, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, will now be played on Thursday, Sept. 20. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. The kick time for the game will be announced at a later date.

Putnam Invited to Green Bay Minicamp

The Green Bay Packers have invited former BYU defensive lineman Matt Putnam to their minicamp starting May 11. Putnam has not signed a free agent contract with the team but will go to the three-day minicamp seeking the chance to join the Packers’ preseason camp this summer.
