Quarter Summary

BYU heads into halftime leading Utah State 6-3. The Cougars were more efficient on offense in the second quarter, tallying 160 yards and scoring on a 61-yard drive to close the quarter. The home team took the lead into the locker room despite missing an extra point and having a field goal blocked.

Quarter Summary

The BYU offense was aggressive in the first quarter, attempting two 4th-down coversions in the period and converting one. The Aggies settled for a field goal in the final minute of the quarter to take a 3-0 lead after failing to score on three straight tries from within the 10-yard line.

The tailgating scene has been growing in Provo this season. The BYU Alumni Association put together a video highlighting some of the fans who have enjoyed themselves with food and fun before the games. Keep coming early to get ready to cheer on the Cougars!

College Football Performance Awards

Senior Riley Stephenson received Punt Performer of the Week honorable mention accolades while junior Kyle Van Noy earned Linebacker Performance of the Week honorable mention.

The St. George native booted three punts for 148 yards, including a season-high 61-yard punt, for an average of 49.3 yards. Stephenson is averaging 47.51 yards on the season for a No. 3 national ranking.

Fourth Quarter Summary

BYU continued its rushing domination in the fourth quarter, rushing 70 yards to Hawai’i’s 23.  The Cougars finished with 540 total yards and 396 rushing yards. With a score of 47-0, the game was BYU’s first shutout since 2009. All touchdowns were scored by underclassmen.

Paul Lasike scored the only touchdown of the fourth quarter.

Third Quarter Summary

Three touchdowns highlighted the third quarter as BYU rushed for 71 yards, bringing the Cougars’ game total to 326. This is their first game with more than 300 rushing yards since playing against San Diego State in 2007. BYU scored 20 points in the third quarter.

Second Quarter Summary

The Cougars launched the second quarter with a bang, scoring another touchdown on the first play of the quarter. After a touchdown by Taysom Hill, the BYU defense forced a Hawai’i fumble. The defense only allowed one Hawai’i first down in the quarter, holding the Warriors to 51 yards in the quarter while the BYU offense took 82 yards.

Quarter Summary

BYU offense under the direction of freshman Taysom Hill tallied 173 yards in the first quarter, leading to a touchdown by Jamaal Williams. The defense kept up the pressure with 14 tackles, sending the team into the second quarter with a 7-0 lead.

ESPN adds two games to WAC schedule involving BYU

DENVER – ESPN has added two November non-conference games to the WAC schedule, both involving Brigham Young.  The BYU-San Jose State game on Nov. 17 and the BYU-New Mexico State game on Nov. 24 will be shown on either ESPNU or ESPN3.  The specific platform will be determined 12 days out for each game.
 
Kickoff for the San Jose State game is currently set for 1:00 p.m. PT while the New Mexico State game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. MT, but both could change if selected for ESPNU.
