BYU wraps up day one at Last Chance Meet in Provo

After a successful day of competition at the Last Chance Meet, several athletes improved their individual times and marks to earn regional qualifying marks.

Clark Brown ran a personal best in the 100m with a time of 10.31 while Derek Sorensen added a personal record of his own with a time of 10.52.

Decathlon comes to an end at Texas Relays

After competing in two days of events, Kevin Nielsen finished No. 5 overall in the decathlon at the Texas Relays. Jackson Walker also competed but did not compete in the final events of the competition.

In the women's 5000 meter run, Laura Young recorded a new personal record of 16:15.66 as she took sixth overall. Alice Jensen likewise set a new personal record, finishing in 16:45.35 and in 12th overall. Yesenia Silva came in 19th overall with a time of 16:51.37.

Highlights from day one at Iowa Classic

AMES, Iowa – The opening day of the Iowa Classic featured several athletes breaking into the BYU record books.

Erica Birk took first place in the women’s mile and set a new BYU record with a time of 4:38.95. Ashleigh Warner, Kristi Rush and Whittni Orton took fourth through sixth places, also claiming spots in the top 10 all-time at BYU. Warner now sits in second place (4:39.48) with Rush in fourth place (4:39.79) and Orton in ninth place (4:41.66).  

BYU Indoor Invitational wraps up second day

During the second day of the 2017 BYU Indoor Invitational, the women’s heptathlon wrapped up with sophomore Halley Folsom taking first place (3463) and freshman Lyndsay Yetter came in at a close second (3294 points).

Cougars complete first day of indoor track and field competition

At the end of the first day of competition at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational, Kevin Nielson leads all athletes in the men’s heptathlon with 3130 points. The men’s heptathletes competed in the high jump, long jump, shot put and the 60 meters. Nielson placed first in all heptathlon events, with Cougar Jackson Walker taking second place in the shot put, third place in the 60 meters and fourth place in the jumps.

BYU head coach Ed Eyestone and Jason Witt will appear on TrackTown LIVE at 2:00 p.m. PDT in celebration of Eyestone's victory in the 10,000-meter race 30 years ago. Witt will compete in the 10,000-meter race tomorrow at the NCAA Championships. You can catch the program live on the embeded video below.

Former Cougar Jason Pyrah to be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

Former BYU track and cross country All-American Jason Pyrah will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in ceremonies on Jan. 26 at the University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center in Springfield, Mo.

McAdams advances to 3,000 meter steeplechase final

Former Cougar Josh McAdams (2004-2006) ran in the 3,000 meter steeplechase preliminary at the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials on Monday and advanced to the final. McAdams, represented by New Balance, ran the race in 8:31.15 and finished fifth in his heat to automatically move on to Thursday's final.
