AVCA Awards Banquet

The team participated in the AVCA Awards Banquet Wednesday night, honoring this year's AVCA All-Americans. Among those being recognized from BYU were junior Taylor Sander and freshman Ben Patch, both named to the All-America First Team, and senior Russ Lavaja, who was named to the second team. Patch was also honored as the NCAA Division I-II Newcomer of the Year.

Ben Patch announced as a member of the Men's Junior Training Team

USA Volleyball has announced the 22 players that will comprise the 2013 U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Training Team.

From the roster of 22, 12 players will be chosen to compete in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship as well as the U21 Pan American Cup.

Eleven of the players on the training team, including Patch, were part of the 2012 U.S. Men’s Junior National Team that won the NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship in Colorado Springs. Patch was named the tournament MVP.

The U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Team secured its spot in the 2012 NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship (U-21) finals by defeating Puerto Rico 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 in Friday evening’s semifinal match at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

BYU’s freshman Ben Patch and the U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Team routed Mexico 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to capture Pool A in 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship (U-21).

With the win the U.S. (3-0) secured a spot in the semifinals Friday, bypassing the quarterfinal round. The top three finishing teams in the NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship earn berths into the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men's Junior World Championship.

Patch and Jr. National Team secure second win

The U.S. Men’s Junior (U-21) National Team swept its second straight opponent in the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior (U-21) Continental Championship, topping St. Vincent 25-8, 25-8, 25-9 Tuesday.

BYU men’s volleyball’s freshman Ben Patch started the first set at middle blocker and posted three points off of two kills and a block.

Team USA will wrap up pool play Wednesday against Mexico.

The U.S. Men’s Junior (U-21) National Team opened play at the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior (U-21) Continental Championship with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 sweep over Honduras on Monday evening at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Three recruits win bronze medal with Jr. National

Three 2013 BYU men’s volleyball recruits won a bronze medal at the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships in Dallas earlier this month. 

The team won nine of its 11 matches, all by 2-0 scores, to earn a bronze medal out of the 33 teams in its pool. The team finished winning a total of 20 sets and only dropping four. Only one team finished with fewer sets lost. The gold medal team finished winning 21 sets and falling in seven while the second place finishers won 21 sets and lost six.
