Full final day prior to Fight Hunger Bowl

After a full day of events on Thursday, the BYU football team is less than 24 hours from facing Washington in the 2013 Fight Hunger Bowl. The Cougars took the field at AT&T Park on Thursday afternoon to conduct a team walk-through at the site of Friday's primetime matchup between the Cougars and Huskies.

In addition to practicing on Tuesday and Christmas Day in preparation for Friday's Fight Hunger Bowl against Washington, BYU enjoyed the opportunity to serve the local community spending Christmas morning at St. Anthony's Dining Room.

Monday, Dec. 23
On Monday morning it was time to get back to work preparing for the Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec. 27 in San Francisco. The day began with 8:30 a.m. team meetings — then it was off to Oakland for an 11 a.m. practice at Laney College. BYU’s Monday practice included 14 timed sessions and lasted just over 95 minutes on Laney’s brand new field turf.
 

Cougars in the Pros: Brandon Davies scores career-high

Sixers Brandon Davies scored a career-high nine points to go along with six rebounds and three steals in 16 minutes of play in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets. 

Lee Cummard combined for a total of 32 points in two games against Verviers-Pepinster and KTP, while Trent Plaisted finished with a double-double, 16 points and 11 rebounds, in a 75-86 loss to Cimberio VA. 

Cougars arrive in San Francisco

BYU arrived in San Francisco on Sunday evening and enjoyed an incredible welcome dinner and the equally amazing views from atop the 32nd floor of the famed Westin St. Francis.
 
The Cougars will continue preparing for the Fight Hunger Bowl with an 11 a.m. practice Monday at Laney College in Oakland. Check back throughout the week for updates on the team as BYU prepares to face Washington on Friday night at AT&T Park.

All-America recognition for Van Noy, 'Unga, Hill, Williams

BYU senior linebacker Kyle Van Noy has added another All-America award to his trophy case.

Van Noy receives more All-America recognition

Linebacker Kyle Van Noy was given two more All-America honors this week. The senior was named CBSSports.com Third Team and an honorable mention by SI.com. Uani 'Unga, another senior linebacker, also received honorable mention honors by SI.com.

Earlier this week, Van Noy was named the Independent Defensive Player of the Year by SB Nation.

To date, Van Noy has been named to three All-America teams (Walter Camp, Athlon Sports and CBSSports.com) and received one honorable mention.

Hill and Van Noy lead College Sports Madness All-Independent Teams

Taysom Hill was named Independent Offensive Player of the Year and Kyle Van Noy was named Independent Defensive Player of the Year by College Sports Madness. The two were among eight Cougars named to the All-Independent First Team.
