When the Cougars take the field against Weber State Saturday, it will mark the 22nd anniversary of one of BYU’s most celebrated wins, a 28-21 upset over defending national champion and No. 1 Miami (Fla.).

Travis Hansen featured on BYUtv's Legends

Former Cougar Travis Hansen was recently featured on BYUtv's Legends. Check out the entire episode on BYUtv.org. Hansen was a two-time All-MWC honoree and averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in his three seasons at BYU, including 16.8 points, 4.8 boards and 2.4 assists his senior season.

Shirley Johnson retires after three decades of service

Shirley Johnson, a native of Salt Lake City, was hired in 1980 as the football office secretary and has served the BYU football team since. After 32 years of service, Johnson retired this week.

Johnson has worked for three head coaches, including LaVell Edwards who hired her. During her time with the Cougars, she saw BYU win its first bowl game (“The Miracle Bowl”), watched the Cougars claim a national championship and witnessed Ty Detmer win the Heisman Trophy.

BYU tight end Kaneakua Friel has been named the College Football Performance Awards National Tight End of the Week for his play in BYU's season-opening 30-6 victory over Washington State. Cougar defensive back Jordan Johnson received honorable mention for Defensive Back of the Week.

Senior Carlee Payne Holmoe was recognized on TopDrawerSoccer.com's Team of the Week after her performance against No. 11 Long Beach State and Colorado College. 

TopDrawerSoccer.com ranks BYU at No. 39, in their Top 64 rankings, after its winning week and, now, 4-1-0 record.

Patch continues to dominate in NORCECA Championship

The U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Team secured its spot in the 2012 NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship (U-21) finals by defeating Puerto Rico 25-15, 25-16, 25-20 in Friday evening’s semifinal match at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

BYU’s freshman Ben Patch and the U.S. Men’s Junior National Volleyball Team routed Mexico 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to capture Pool A in 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship (U-21).

With the win the U.S. (3-0) secured a spot in the semifinals Friday, bypassing the quarterfinal round. The top three finishing teams in the NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship earn berths into the 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men's Junior World Championship.

It was a record night for multiple BYU wide receivers. Junior Cody Hoffman brought his consecutive games of catching a pass to 20 and ended the night with three receptions and 46 yards.  Junior Skyler Ridley’s touchdown reception in the first quarter was his first career catch. He finished the night with 54 yards on six catches.
