Softball Team Earns Votes in Final Polls

The Cougar softball team received votes in the final polls released today after reaching the championship game of the NCAA Eugene Regional and finishing with a 45-15 record this past season.

In the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 poll BYU garnered 12 votes to finish ranked No. 30 while getting four votes to finish tied for No. 37 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll.

Cosic Hall of Fame induction

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame today uploaded several induction speaches to its YouTube page today. One that was uploaded was the induction of the late Kresimir Cosic, one of BYU's all-time greats and one of the most influential figures in the history of basketball in Europe. Cosic was enshirned to the Hall of Fame as part of the class of 1996.

New Zealand's Maori TV features Bronco Mendenhall

BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall appeared on the most popular sports show in New Zealand this week when he spent an hour on the famous Code couch at Maori Television in Auckland.

Coach Mendenhall was warmly greeted by the show hosts, including Jenny-May Coffin, a New Zealand netball legend, and celebrity rugby players Glen “Oz” Osborne and Awen Guttenbeil along with current rugby standout Liam Messam.

Same place, same event, 42 years later

When Chris Carter advanced to the final of the 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, his performance stirred up memories of Ralph Mann, one of BYU's greatest track athletes who competed in the same event more than 40 years ago.

Marriott Center and Edwards Stadium Construction

Successful season ends for Cummard

Lee Cummard's first professional season in Japan came to an end today as his team, Kyoto Hannaryz fell 75-66 to the Yokohama B-Corsairs in the third-place game for the bj-league. Cummard helped Kyoto to a third-place finish in the Western Conference and 35-21 overall. He finished the season averaging 10.6 points, 5.1 boards and 3.1 assists

Marriott Center Update-5/18/12

The project to install new chairs at the Marriott Center and renovate the locker rooms is well underway. The first new concrete was poured in the Marriott Center this morning. See photos below of the progress being made.

BYU student-athletes participate in walk-a-thon

Several BYU student athletes participated in a walk-a-thon at Orchard Elementary in Orem on Wednesday, May 16. Members of BYU women's soccer, women's basketball and men's basketball as well as members of the Utah Valley baseball attended and signed autographs, played with students and supported them in their efforts to raise funds for their school. Funds raised go directly to the school for supplies, teacher grants, Reflections contests and student activities. See the photos below.

NFF Announces 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class

The National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame announced Ty Detmer as a member of the 2012 Hall of Fame Class on Monday on ESPN during College Football Live. Today, the thirteen other players and three coaches were announced to complete the 2012 honorees. Here is the NFF's complete release announcing this year's class:
