Van Noy, All-Americans honored

PROVO, Utah -- During halftime of the BYU men’s basketball game against Utah State Tuesday, junior football player Kyle Van Noy was presented the College Football Performance Award (CFPA) Defensive Performer of the Year and BYU honored its 39 All-Americans from 2012.

PROVO, Utah -- During halftime of the BYU men’s basketball game against Utah State Tuesday, BYU honored its 39 All-Americans from 2012.

Honorees from last year’s winter sports and the recently-ended fall sports were named. Both All-America and Academic All-America awardees were honored.

Jodi Maxfield on DanceTeacher Cover

Congratulations to BYU Cougarette director Jodi Maxfield who was featured on the March 2013 cover of DanceTeacher magazine. Maxfield came to BYU in 1991 and has built one the nations top college dance programs. Under her direction, the Cougarettes have won 10 National College Dance team champions — eight NDA titles and two hip-hop national championships.  Maxfield was recognized as one of the Nation's Outstanding Directors in 2003 and 2004.

Softball All-Americans honored at men's basketball game

PROVO, Utah--Senior shortstop JC Clayton and former Cougar outfielder and second baseman, Delaney Willard and Stacie Toney, were honored Tuesday at the men's basketball game for their All-American awards. The three players earned All-American accolades for their 45-win season in 2012, where they won the Western Athletic tournament championship and went onto the team's eight-straight postseason tournament.

Craig Cusick on ESPN SportsCenter

After hitting the game-winning buzzer beater in BYU's 70-68 victory over Utah State, BYU senior Craig Cusick was featured on ESPN's SportsCenter. Cusick talked about what the shot meant for him personally after finding out earlier that day his father had cancer.

Cusick has moved himself into a starting position, getting nine starts this season, and is averaging 4.2 points per game after walking onto the team three years ago as a practice player, meaning he wasn't listed on the official roster.

Despite the facts Kelli Ehardt is a student and an athlete at the present time, she has different asperations of what she wants to be in the future. In addition to becoming a wife and a mother, Kelli wants to become a fire fighter.

Another fun fact about Kelli is before signing with BYU, she did not really want to come here.

"I actually didn't want to come here, but after my recruiting trip, I really fell in love with the atmosphere and the standards that other schools didn't have to offer."

Senior Brandon Davies was recently featured on BYUtv's True Blue. See the video below. 

Davies has become one of BYU's most successful big men. He is BYU's most recent addition to the 1,000-point club with 1,539 career points to place him 12th all-time and is also 12th all-time on BYU's career double-double list with 21. His career rebounds of 768 place him 11th on the all-time list.

Video: Hutchins and Minson jersey retirement

BYU legends Mel Hutchins and Roland Minson joined Danny Ainge and Kresimir Cosic as the only BYU men’s basketball players to have their jerseys retired during halftime of Saturday’s 86-72 win over Portland.

BYUtv highlighted the 1951 NIT National Championship team, of which Hutchins and Minson were members, with a video tribute. 

The halftime ceremony was aired live on BYUtv and included remarks from the two former players, a letter from Elder Jeffery R. Holland and words from athletic director Tom Holmoe.

Live from the KSL 5 TV studios, head coach Dave Rose kicked off his weekly show with a full recap of last week's action against Portland. The Cougars had just one game last week, on Saturday, against Portland in the Marriott Center. BYU won 86-72.
