Baseball season starts next month

A year ago four members of BYU’s current baseball team were serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They are Jacob Hannemann (Arkansas), Andy Isom (Brazil), Cody Shepherd (Brazil) and Derek Speigner  (Salt Lake City).

Live from Legends Grille on BYU campus, head coach Dave Rose began his Coach's Show by previewing the other West Coast Conference teams, their upcoming opponents and how BYU feels about being 4-0 in league play so far. 

"Our team has been really good at being able to focus one week at a time and be consistent for 40 minutes. This week's games are now getting familiar - we've played these teams before - so we have to work hard."

In the KSL 5 TV studios, BYU head coach Dave Rose kicked off his weekly Coach’s Show with a recap of the team’s second-straight two-win week this season and their 4-0 start in West Coast Conference play.

“It was a great week. I thought our guys were really prepared – it felt similar to the week before, as far as the teams we played and it was nice we were able to come away with two wins.”

BYU takes on Santa Clara at the Leavey Event Center today at 2:30 p.m. MST in the WCC Game of the Week. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports, Root Sports Rocky Mountain and Root Sports Northwest. Tune in for the pregame show at 2 p.m. MST.

TWC Sports is available to DIRECTV customers in Southern California as well as Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, Las Vegas and Hawaii on channel 691.

Haws and Davies named to CBSSports.com Midseason Top 50

CBSSports.com released its midseason top 50 today and Tyler Haws and Brandon Davies were ranked No. 37 and 44.

From CBSSports.com:

37. Tyler Haws, 6-5, SG, SOPH., BYU: The new Jimmer out in Provo, Haws is averaging 21.1 points and shooting 41.9 percent from 3. Had 42 against Va. Tech this season.

Lance Reynolds, seniors honored at football banquet

The BYU football team held its annual banquet following the conclusion of the 2012 season on Wednesday night.

KSL Radio's Greg Wrubell served as master of ceremonies for the event held at the Utah Valley Convention Center. Wrubell introduced the evening with various statistics and honors earned from the 2012 campaign.

Van Noy, Stephenson named to CBSSports.com 2012-13 All-Bowl Team

Following their dominant performances in BYU's 23-6 win over San Diego State in the 2012 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, linebacker Kyle Van Noy and punter Riley Stephenson were named to the CBSSports.com 2012-13 All-Bowl Team.

On his weekly KSL radio coach's show, head coach Dave Rose started the program talking about being 2-0 to start WCC play and BYU's upcoming opponents this week in Pepperdine and Santa Clara.

Rose continued to preview the WCC, how the other teams are shaping up and how tough this conference competition is.

"There's a lot of ball to be played still but everyone's very competitive. Teams play well at home and we'll have to work for a win every game."

In the KSL 5 TV studios, BYU head coach Dave Rose began his weekly coach's show with a recap of last week's action, starting West Coast Conference play with back-to-back wins. Rose gave a full recap of both games.

The Cougars defeated LMU 92-51 behind 21 points from Matt Carlino and USF 80-76 behind 22 points from Carlino and Tyler Haws.

Live from Legends Grille on BYU campus, BYU men's basketball head coach Dave Rose started his weekly radio show with an evaluation of where he thinks the team is at this point in the season, where they're headed and the things they've accomplished. 

"I believe that we've made some really good progress and learned a lot about our team. Now we're ready for league play. Defensively, I think we're really starting to understand each other and work our zone to our advantage."
