The Cougars are hard at work getting ready for the 2011-12 season. Practice starts in 17 days. The Cougar Tipoff is 28 days away. In the meantime, several former Cougars are starting or getting ready to start their professional seasons overseas. Former Cougars Chris Miles and Logan Magnusson are hooping it up for the Hanau White Wings in Das Land der Dichter und Denker — the land of poets and thinkers (thank you Wikipedia). The White Wings had their first game on Saturday, Sept. 24 and defeated TSV Troester 71-60. Miles — who is in his second season with the White Wings — was in the starting five and had seven points and six boards.

Friday Night Lights

The BYU football team is playing three Friday night games this season on ESPN. The first is coming up this weekend against UCF and the second is the following week against Utah State. The third Friday game is scheduled for October 28 against TCU, a neutral site game at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Some have looked down at the Friday night games, with traditional college football being played on Saturdays. It also usually gives teams one less day to prepare.
