Seattle Baseball Trip

On Friday, April 13, BYU will be playing at 6 p.m. (PDT) at Cheney Stadium where Coach Vance Law played as a pro. Coach Law played one month in 1991 for the Tacoma A's while he was under contract with the Oakland A's and in 1979-80 he played a couple times in that stadium while playing for the AAA Portland Beavers.

BYU Hall of Famer Harold Christensen Passes Away

Former Cougar Harold Christensen, a starter on the 1951 NIT Championship team and a member of the Cougar Club Hall of Fame, died Tuesday at the age of 80.

Prior to coming to BYU, Christensen was a star for B.Y. High School. He was selected to play in the 1949 High School All-Star Game in Kentucky and was named a high school All-American. At BYU, Christensen helped the Cougars win the 1951 NIT, earned all-conference honors in 1952 and 1953 and played in the 1953 East-West All-Star Game in Kansas City.

Oregon Baseball Trip

BYU's baseball team flew to Oregon yesterday, but Thursday's baseball game with the University of Portland has been postponed to Friday due to rain.

The Pilots and Cougars are scheduled to now play a doubleheader on Friday at the newly-opened Hilken Stadium.  Hilken Stadium is at Concordia University in Portland, one of at least seven four-year schools with the name Concordia--others are located in New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Chicago and Texas.

Day 1 NCAA Women's Championship

The No. 10 seed BYU women’s basketball team began its run in the 2012 NCAA Tournament Thursday.

The Cougars along with the band and Cougarettes departed from the Provo Airport, landing in Chicago that evening where two buses awaited their arrival for the short drive to the team hotel just a few miles away. Sandwiches and drinks were passed out to everyone.

On approach to the Chicago O’Hare airport they were able to see a beautiful view of the windy city and their team hotel. A lightning storm in the distance lit the sky as they landed.

In honor of a guy who helped BYU defeat Florida in double-overtime in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament, ending BYU's 17-year drought of winning a tournament game, here are highlights of Chris Miles playing in Germany. Miles is in his second season with the Hanau White Wings and is averaging 12.6 points and 7.7 rebounds. Enjoy.

Update as of Sunday night, Coach Vance Law reports the team's flight is delayed until midnight out of Denver.

TD Ameritrade Park Omaha is the site of this year's College World Series (June 15-25/26) after years competing at Rosenblatt Stadium (where BYU played in the 1968 and 1971 College World Series; the Cougars had qualified to play in 1958 and 1961 but declined because of Sunday play).
