Day Three – Game Day (Tuesday, Nov. 29)
Day three on the north shore began with breakfast catered by the Hukilau Café and a shoot around at the “old gym” on the BYU-Hawaii campus. After a little rest and relaxation back at the Turtle Bay Resort, the Cougars returned to the BYUH campus to take on the Seasiders in the first game of the Hukilau Invitational at the Cannon Activities Center.
Led by Kim Parker‘s season-high 16 points, the Cougars scored early and often easily defeating BYU-Hawaii 88-27. Kristen Riley scored a season-high 12 points while senior Haley Steed led the team with six assists and freshman Stephanie Rovetti had a team-best six rebounds.
A total of 13 Cougars got on the scoreboard in a day where BYU had 29 steals and collected 21 assists. The Cougars (5-2) will face the Arizona Wildcats (5-0) on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 3:00 pm HT. The game will be broadcast live on BYU Radio.
The team concluded the day’s activities Tuesday with a luau at Hukilau Beach in Laie. The evening was a true cultural affair filled with island food, song, dance and much Aloha. The food was catered by Tita’s Grill, owned by the Ah You Ohana (family).
