PROVO, Utah – Elisabeth "Bizzy" Phillips is thrilled to bring high school and club teammates with her for her first season at BYU, but she's most excited about playing with Michele Murphy again.
They played together at Alta three seasons ago and now will get to reunite on the pitch.
"I'm really excited to be wearing a BYU jersey – finally – after dreaming about it for so many years," Phillips said. "I'm excited to play with Murph again because we played in high school together and we're best friends too, so I'm so excited we're finally back on the same field again.
The summer made it a long wait, but camps helped the time pass.
"It was exhausting in the best way possible," Phillips said. "It was fun because we finally got to teach the girls and it was less stressful."
Phillips is a two-time High School All-American and two-time Gatorade Utah Player of the Year. In addition to being a three-time First Team All-State selection, she was a 2013 UHSAA Academic All-State selection. She left Alta as the career assists leader with 60.
The first scrimmage is the Blue/White game on Aug. 13 and the home opener is Aug. 25 against Washington State, but that can't come soon enough for Phillips.
"Finally playing with the team is a dream come true," Phillips said. "Playing with Brigham Young on my chest – I'm so excited for that."
